Technical Description:
Habit: Bushy shrub, with wide spreading branches.
Shoots: Young pubescent shoots are covered in fine white hairs. There are large black scales underneath the buds.
Leaves: Oval to almost round leaves, 5-9 cm long, 4-6 cm wide, dull dark green above, prominently veined beneath, with a twisted leaf tip.
Catkins: Large Male catkins.
